Modern Art Gallery came into existence at the time of the inauguration of Bharat Bhavan  in 1982 the gallery was planned and conceived with the view of housing the most representative works of contemporary Indian art scene .Hence a grand inaugural show was mounted in which the highly accomplished artists had participated permanent collection of the Roopankar museum of art displayed in the Modern Art Gallery is stunningly expensive and intensely corresponding to the aesthetic notions of our times . Here are collected the works of such luminaries of contemporary Indian art as Tayab Mehta, Krishn Khanna, Maqbool Fida Hussain, Akbar Padamse, K.G.Subramaniam, Nagribhai Patel, Ghulam Mohd.
